The pie charts illustrate the proportion of water using for five types of categories – bathroom, toilets, washing, kitchen, and garden – in a particular country in 1988 and 2008. Overall, the water usage of bathroom and kitchen showed vary increases, while the reverse was true for the other reaming categories. Notably, the water consumption rose significantly, becoming from the least to the lead consumer.
In 1988, washing accounted for the highest proportion of water usage, comprising 25% of the total. This figure was closely behind bathroom and garden, with respective shares of 22% and 20%. Meanwhile, kitchen and toilets were least popular sectors on the water consumption, making up 15% and 18%, respectively.
By 2008, however, the figures in the mix had changed differently. Kitchen and bathroom surged into dominates water usage, with 29% each, enough to overtake all other sectors. Toilets recorded a marginal reduction to 23%, while washing saw also its figures dip to 22%. Similarly, the percentage of water consumption in garden became the least, dramatically falling to just 7%.
