The pie chart illustrates the expenditure spent in various sectors (transport, social security, health, education, law, agriculture, defence, housing and others) by the UAE government in the year 2000. The total budget is said to be AED 315 billion.
Overall, social security takes up a major portion of government spending, which is then followed by health and personal social services. Education and defence come in next, and the remaining sectors share nearly equal amounts.
Most of the government funds are disbursed to social security (AED 100 billion), while 53 billion is spent on health services. Education ranks third with AED 38 billion sanctioned by the UAE government. Defence and debt interest receive almost the same shares of 22 and 23 billion respectively.
On the other hand, the money credited for law and order, agriculture and housing all fall between AED 13 to 17 billion in the year 2000. The least amount of money is spent in the transport sector (AED 9 billion), as compared to other expenditures, which stands at 23 billion.
