The pie chart illustrates the proportion of employees with various levels of educational qualifications ( First degree, Masters, PhD ) and fields of study ( Arts, Science ) who were hired by an engineering company in 1980 and 2008.
Overall, there was an increase in the percentage of staff holding PhD Science, Masters Arts and PhD Arts, while the opposite was true for remaining types of degree. Basically, have some noticeable changes towards hiring individuals with a higher degree, especially in Science-related fields after nearly 3 decades.
Considering the groups with bigger data, by 1980, staff having Masters Science made up the largest percentage at 29% and kept unchanged at that number in 2008. Followed closely by those with First degree Arts holders occupying a quarter ( 25% ) in 1980, after which it witnessed a plummet to 11% in the final year. Meanwhile, the proportion of PhD Science owners escalated from 13% to 30% throughout the examined period.
Moving to groups with smaller data, starting at nearly one-fifth in 1980, the percentage of workers with First degree Science then slightly declined to 10% in 2008. A opposite Similar change can be seen in the percentage of office workers possessing Masters and PhDs in Arts, which rose from 12% to 13% and from 2% to 7% respectively.
