While the pie chart depicts the ratio of women who suffer from poverty, the bar chart reflects the percentage of poverty according to gender and age in 2008. In the pie chart, the major component is marital status, but in the bar chart, the key features are gender and age.
Overall, after analyzing both charts, what can be seen is that while single women with no dependent children were the highest in the pie chart, men and women under 5 were the poorest citizens in the United States in the bar chart.
Regarding the pie chart, it can be seen that single women with no dependent children recorded a percentage of 54%, whereas married women with no dependent children registered about 8%. Whilst single women with dependent children accounted for half of the percentage of single women with no dependent children, married women with dependent children hit 12%.
According to the bar chart, it can be observed that the poverty percentage of women and men under 5 were similar, and recorded at roughly 20%. In contrast, the United States citizens, aged between 45 and 54, had the lowest percentage (about 7%). In the term of 75 years old or older, men had a high poverty ratio in contrast to women (14% and 5%, respectively).
