The given pie charts illustrate the percentages of the total international tourist travels at the five most visited global destinations. Overall, in the beginning of the period the most popular global destination was in China; however, in the final period it was taken by the United States. While the figures for Italy, France, and Spain experienced a fluctuation, the percentage for touristists visiting the United States increased despite China showing a downward trend during the entire period.
The percentage of tourists traveling to France rose slightly from 16.0% in 2017 to roughly a fifth in 2018. From then on, there was a decline for the figure for France to 15.3% in 2019. During 2017 and 2018, the percentage of international tourists coming to Spain experienced an increase from 18.4% to 25.4% before it decreased to 13.7%. The figure for international people taking a vacation in the United States increased slightly from 18.1% in 2017 to 18.9% in 2018 and skyrocketed for the rest of the period to finish at just below a third.
The figure for China started at almost a quarter in 2017 and decreased slightly to 18.6% in 2018 and 15.2% in 2019. The percentage of international tourists travelling to Italy accounted for approximately one quarter in 2017 and saw a drop to 19.3% in 2018. Finally, there was a growth of 5.7% in the final year reported.
