The pie charts show the proportions of different energy sources in Australia in 2008 and the predicted figures for 2030.
Overall, coal and oil are the main sources of energy in both years. However, there are noticeable changes in the shares of some energy types in 2030.
In 2008, coal contributed the largest portion at 39%, followed by oil at 32.5%. Gas accounted for about 23%, and renewable sources like wind, solar, and hydro made up only a very small percentage, each below 2%. Other sources together represented nearly 4%.
By 2030, coal is expected to decrease significantly to 27%, while oil is projected to rise slightly to 35.5%. Gas is predicted to increase to 32%. Among renewable energies, geothermal and hydro are expected to grow, with geothermal reaching 4.3% and hydro 0.7%, though wind and solar remain low. The proportion of other sources is predicted to stay almost the same at 3.6%.
By 2030, oil and gas are expected to dominate Australia’s energy mix, with renewables remaining a small but steadily growing share.
