The pie charts give information about teenagers’ spending on 5 different categories in Japan and Australia in 2019.
On the whole, the graph reveals an uneven distribution of young people’s money across all five sectors. As can be clearly seen from the graph, in Japan most of the money is spent on video games, in comparison to Australian young people, who put their money in food.
At first glance, it can be seen that in Japan the majority of spending by young people is on video/computer games, with 37% of the total budget. Spending on food and clothes with young people’s money comes next, with proportions of 22% and 20%. As to other items, teenagers spent only 12% of their money. By contrast, books accounted for the smallest proportion of spending by young people.
However, the reverse was true for the food category in Australia; Australian youngsters spend 37% of their money on food.
Video/computer games spending accounted for the third largest share with only 22%. With regard to clothes, the distribution of the budget is a quarter of the whole money, surpassing video and computer games. As far as books and other items were concerned, the spending on them was 8%.
