In 2015, airline operations management accounted for the largest proportion at 40%, followed by air traffic control being a quarter and bad weather at 21%. Military factors and airport security were 10% and 4% respectively.
Moving on to 2016, airline operations management remained the most significant cause of flight delays, increasing to 46%. Bad weather(23%), however, outraced the air traffic control by 13%. Airport security was more than tripled from 2015 and military factors decreased to 6%.
