Overall, it is clear that the majority of people prefer to use gas, but in 2018 the situation hasn’t changed and gas is still the most popular type of energy consumption based on fuel.
Initially, gas was the most popular energy source, accounting for 41.3% of total energy consumption, followed by oil at approximately 33.0%. Coal was third with 16.9%, while primary electricity and bioenergy & waste had the lowest shares at 6.2% and 2.7%, respectively.
By 2018, the landscape had shifted considerably. Gas’s share had decreased slightly to 39.2%, while oil remained the second most consumed energy source, but its share had increased slightly to 35.8%. Coal saw a significant decline, dropping to just 4.4%, reflecting a substantial reduction in its usage. In contrast, primary electricity experienced a substantial increase, rising to 11.6%, indicating a growing reliance on renewable and nuclear energy sources. bioenergy & waste also saw a notable increase, climbing to 9.1%, highlighting a growing interest in sustainable and renewable energy options.
