The two pie charts compare the proportion of learners enrolling in numerous classes at an adult education institution in the year 1985 and the current year.
Overall, it is evident that in the present year, IT lessons are taking the place of courses on regional history and music appreciation. Additionally, while the other categories were recorded to experience some radical changes, the figure for students who opted for fitness and dance classes remained stable throughout the period.
As is presented in the first pie chart, in 1985, the percentage of pupils engaging in modern language courses took the lead at 24%, which was triple that of those studying music appreciation. Besides, the number of people attending the fitness and dance classes made up almost a quarter of the pie chart, while the proportion of learners who registered for the remaining lessons constituted nearly equivalent participation rates, ranging from around 14% to 17%.
Looking more detailed in the second one, the present year witnessed a downward trend to roughly 15% and 17% in the number of participants in art and modern language courses, respectively. Meanwhile, the reversed pattern could be seen in the figure for those who are educated in cookery classes with a slight increase of 5% compared to the data in 1985. Moreover, it is noticeable that IT courses were the most popular choice among the five categories when accounting for nearly 27% of total students this year.
