The two given graphs illustrate the proportion of students taking part in numerous curriculums for adults from 1985 to this year.
Overall, it is evident that whilst most courses witnessed an upward trend and even disappear in this year, fitness and dance is the only one that maintains the second most popular during both periods.
Looking at the statistics in 1985, the curriculum leading in the first chart was modern languages (French/German/Spanish) at 24%, followed nearly by fitness and dance, one that the second highest percentage of number of participants can be seen in. Notably, cookery and local history reported that these figures of students were similar to each other, by 15%. Moreover, the least attractive one belonged to music appreciation with the proportion of 8%, which was nearly twice lower than 17% of art.
Regarding this year, the addition of IT and the removal of music appreciation as well as local history obviously show the change. Particularly, the pupils who participate in this new additional course account for the highest percentage at 27%, and also this figure is nearly twice more than art’s proportion. Following this is still the second highest figure for this pie chart, which is held by fitness and dance. Additionally, the number of learners taking the cookery syllabus experiences a figure more than 5% in comparison to this in the initial chart, on the contrary the only one that records a decrease in its percentage is modern languages including French, German and Spanish.
