This report concerns two pie charts, which compare amount of time spent by adult people on work, sleep and other activities in 1958 and 2008, introduced percentage-wise.
Although the general pattern of the two sets of data is similar, there are some differences. Overall, individuals have spent at work the major part of their day throughout both periods and significantly increased this rate by 2008 from 33% to 42%, while sleeping hours have declined from 32% in 1958 to 25% in 2008. Compared to 1958, amount of time needed to travel to work changed too from 2% to 8%,
Among leisure activities, the largest share in 1958 was going out with family or friends, which took up 19%. The two other popular pastime activities were relaxing at home (8%) and other interests or playing sports (6%) following very closely behind.
In 2008, adults used their free time mostly for relaxing at home (13%). The popularity of going out with close people has dramatically dropped to 6%, became the less prevailing entertainment.
