The pie chart below illustrates the proportion of time working adults spend in distinct activities in a particular country between 1958 and 2008.
Overall, there was an increasing trend in the duration of time adults spent in the majority of activities with the two anomalies of this trend being the duration of sleep and outgoing with loved ones. The greatest increase during this period was seen in the amount of time spent working while the largest reduction over the same time frame was seen in the amount of time going out with their loved ones
In 2008 people were much less outgoing than in 1958 as people spent 13 percent less of their time going out with their close one in 2008 , the largest decrease in adult participation in an activity over this period. However, people spent 9 percent more of their time working in 2008 than they did half a century earlier, the greatest increase during this period. Amongst all of the other activities, sleeping was the only activity that people spent less of their time doing with people choosing to allocate only 25 percent of their time in 2008 as opposed to 50 years before. Of the remaining three activities traveling , other interest and relaxation , people spent 6 more percent , 2 more percent and 5 more percent of their time on each one respectively .
