Across the five categories, the percentage of spending remained relatively stable from the year 2000 to 2020. The biggest change is a 10% decrease in housing expenses by the year 2020. On the other hand, there is an increase of 5% within the categories of food and transport. Moreover, the amount spent on healthcare and entertainment appear to be unchanged throughout the years, remaining at 10% in each category.
Notably, housing expenses covered nearly half of the overall expenditure in the year 2000 compared to food expenses which accounted to less than 15% of this amount. On the other hand, housing and food contributed an equal amount of spending in the year 2020, at 30% respectively.
