The two pie charts depict the segment of Oscar winners by film categories between 2003 and 2008.
Overall, movie stars won the most Oscar Awards of Action in both times despite a significant decline. In contrast, the least quantity of people coming first is Comedy sort.
Specifically, the proportion of actors getting awards of action type achieved nearly half of the chart in 2003, but this type only accounted for a small share of about a third of the whole film genre in 2008. In addition, the portion of Oscar winners in Horror type reduced significantly by half within five years. On the other hand, the segments of two types, namely Documentary and Thriller rose wildly from 2003 to 2008. The percentage of awards in the Documentary type gained a small fraction to just 15%, and approximately a quarter of movie stars were victorious in the Thriller type in 2003. Five years later, the figure for the Documentary type grew twofold, along the figure for the Thriller type increased dramatically just following the largest proportion for the Action type by about 10%.
It can be witnessed that there was a moderate increase in the segments of Oscar winners in Romance, Science fiction, and Comedy. The smallest fraction of Oscar awards in the Comedy type remained unchanged over the period of five years. The portions of movie stars taking first prizes in Science fiction and Romance rose slightly in both 2003 and 2008 by about 3% and 6% respectively.
