The three pie charts illustrate the average proportion of sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar in four typical meals in USA: Dinner, Lunch, Breakfast, and Snacks.
Overall, it is clear that dinner contribute the highest percentage of sodium and saturated fat, but snacks account for the largest share with added sugar. In contrast, breakfast shows the lowest contribute across three different nutrients.
In the beginning, it can be seen that sodium was dominated by dinner meals around 43%, followed with lunch to around 29%. Breakfast and snacks contribute the least proportion to approximately 14%. Similar, saturated fat demonstrated a same pattern with dinner the biggest consumed at 37%. Lunch accounts for 26%, while snacks and breakfast provide 21% and 16%.
In contrast, added sugar represent a different pattern, which snacks was the highest proportion at 42%, which is higher than dinner at 23% and lunch 19%. Breakfast once again has the smallest share at 16%.
