Overall, dinner contains the highest proportion of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are the main sources of added sugar. In contrast, breakfast consistently contributes the lowest percentages of all three nutrients.
Looking first at sodium, dinner accounts for the largest share at 43%, which is significantly higher than lunch at 29%. Breakfast and snacks both contain much lower levels, each representinv only 14% of the total. A similar pattern can be seen in saturated fat consumtion, where dinner again ranked first at 37%, followed by lunch and snacks which contribute respectively at 22% and 26%, wheress breakfast has the smallest proportion.
Added sugar, however, show a different distribution. Snacks make up the largest proportion by a considerable margin, accounting for 42% of total sugar intake. Dinner contributes less than a quarter, while lunch and represent 19% and 16%.
