Overall, in both criteria the largest proportion was taken by Definite Jobs, whereas in immigrated side looking for job accounted for the least share and in emigrated criteria with only a small fraction allocated to formal study.
In detail,38% of people who immigrated to Australia did so because they had secured a definite job.Formal study was the second common reason, at 22%, followed by accompanying or joining someone, which made 17%. A futher 13% migrated for other reasons,and only 10% people moved to looke for Job .
A similar pattern can be seen among emigrants. The largest proportion, 37%, left Australia for a definite job. However, a higher percentage of people emigrated to look for work (20%) compared with those who immigrated for this reason. Other reasons accounted for 21% of departures, while 16% left to accompany or join others. Formal study was the least common motive for emigration, at just 6%.
