The charts provide information about the share of holiday makers who have used different types of accomodation in 1988, 1998 and 2008.
Overall, while the users of rental apartments and hotels rose over the period, use of camping or staying with family and friend levelled off during some years.
Regarding staying with family and friends, it accounted for the highest share of holiday makers, at 52% in 1988. Then the figure rose slightly to 54% by 54% before experiencing a sharp fall to 44% over the next decade. Similarly, 15% of rented apartments in 1988 increased by 7% by the year 1998. However, the figure remained unchanged and ended at 22% in 2008.
In contrast, the proportion of holiday makers who stayed at rented apartments showed a constant growth, starting at 7% in 1988 and ending at 22% in 2008. Conversely, the figure for camping decreased significantly over a 30 year period. The percentage began at 26% in 1988, and then continued to decline to 13% in 1998 and showed the least 14% holiday makers in 2008
