The pie graphs give information on the percentage of people travelling for different purposes—visiting friends/family, business, holiday and others—from different airports (Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, Luton Airport and Stansted Airport) in the year 2016. It is clear that the proportion of passengers flying for going to friends and family was the highest in all airports, with the exception of Gatwick Airport, which the figure for holiday was by fa the highest, while the reverse is true for other reasons in all airports.
Looking at the graph in more detail, 50% of people travelling for visiting friends/family from Luton Airport, compared to Stansted Airport, which accounted for the second highest, at 48%. In comparison, the figure for visiting friends/family at Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport consisted of 37% and 30%, respectively. By contrast, the percentage of passengers flying for holiday reason from Gatwick Airport and Stansted Airport made up 54% and 36%, respectively, while from Luton Airport and Heathrow Airport were 35% and 33%, respectively.
However, the figure for business accounted for 26% at Heathrow Airport, whereas at other airports made up 14%, excepting for Luton Airport consisting of 13%. In contrast, with the exception of Heathrow Airport, which was 4% each airports accounted for 2%.
