The two pie charts illustrate the percentage of sales of the three types of new cars in Australia in April of the years 1984, 1993 and 2013.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the largest proportion of new cars was allocated to Sedans in all three years, while SUVs had the least number of sales, which remained constant over the last two years. In comparison, other types of cars experienced a slight growth.
In terms of Sedans, they were responsible for the most significant share, with 74% in 1984. This trend showed a gradual decline to 62% until 2004, after which it reached its lowest peak, which comprised just over half of the whole sales in 2013.
Between the years 1994 and 2004, the sales of SUVs tripled from 7% at the beginning of the period to 17%, and remained unchanged in the next 9 years. Likewise, the figure for the other types saw an upward trend from approximately 20% to 32% in almost 20 years.
