Overall, French was one of the most popular languages selected by students in both years, although its percentages may have changed between 2009 and 2014. However, Russian was the least popular languages chosen by british students in both years.
In 2009, French was the most popular foreign language, about 43% of students. While, spanish represented 16%. By 2014, the proportion choosing french had fallen to 34%, whereas spanish had risen to 24%. Similarly, intalian language proportion changed from 20% in 2009 to 24% in 2014.
Regarding the remaning languages, German language proportion had 12% in 2009 and declined to 10% in 2014. As we can clearly see that Russian language was the least popular among all foreign languages, the proportion had 9% of students who chosen russian language in 2009 and it slighly decreased to 8% in 2014.
