The maps illustrate the layout of a particular school in 1985 and how it looks currently.
Overall, it is clear that the school has undergone many changes to accommodate the growing number of students over the period of three decades.
In 1985, the school had just 1,500 students. The entrance and exit were at the top of the map, on the two sides of a rectangular car park, with a smaller car park adjacent to the office on the left. Moreover, a road branched off in the middle of the map, leading to the playing fields occupying a sustainable area at the bottom of the map, providing ample space for outdoor activities. The classrooms and library were situated on the left of the main car park, while a 2-storey classroom block was located on the opposite site.
At present, the school’s layout has been transformed to meet its larger population, with 2,300 students. The library has been substituted by a learning resource center, which includes a computer room, and the classroom on the right has been upgraded to three storeys. In addition, the playing fields have been significantly reduced in size, making way for the construction of a pool and a fitness center on the left and the new classrooms on the right. Meanwhile, the office and the main car park remain unchanged, but the smaller car park near the office has been removed to make space for new facilities. Finally, a group of trees has been planted, replacing the road in the center of the campus.
