The given map illustrates which changes have taken place in Grange park from 1920 to nowadays. Overall, the area witnessed significant transformations with urbanisation and more modern facilities replacing traditional elements.
In 1920, from Arnold Avenue, looking straight from the entrance, people could clearly see a fountain in the centre of the park but this has now been replaced by a rose garden. To the left of this entrance there used to be a rose garden with plenty of seats and, further to the centre of the park, a stage for musicians. Today, however, the rose garden still remains while the seats have disappeared and the stage has been replaced by an amphitheatre for concerts. Moreover, the rose garden near the Eldon Street entrance has disappeared.
On the right side of the Arnold Avenue entrance, there is a cafe shop located in the place which used to belong to a rose garden, and the pond for water plants was destroyed to make way for a children’s play area. Nearby, the original glasshouse has been converted into a modern water feature , above a newly constructed underground car park.
