Overall, while the size of the area remained the same, it was equipped with more facilities for recreational and academic purposes so that readers can have the best experiences during their time here.
Regarding the infrastructure of the ground floor, it was clear that almost everything stays in the same location. There was no difference in the position of the librarian’s desk, the entrance and the stairs during the 8-year period. However, the tables which were placed at the center of the library changed in shape, from square to rectangular. Furthermore, a separate area for tables and a children’s area, which replaced the fiction, were designed at the top of the map in order to accommodate a larger number of different types of customers . Lastly, with the infusion of technology, computers were installed to meet people’s needs, especially students and non-manual workers.
In terms of reading materials in the library, people saw the appearance of additional categories after the redevelopment. In 2001, the plan displayed only history and self-help books on the left, however, that number increased to six in 2009 with the addition of fiction, economics, law and kitchen materials. On the other hand, the newspapers and periodicals sector was removed to make way for the build of films and DVDS, which were located adjacent to the computer site.
