This report delineates the existing and proposed configurations of a university’s sports centre, highlighting the significant alterations projected post-redevelopment.
The current layout of the sports centre features several functional areas, albeit limited in scope. In contrast, the forthcoming design suggests a comprehensive expansion and diversification of facilities.
Currently, the sports centre is structured with an outdoor court flanking both the eastern and western sides, accompanied by a standard 25-meter swimming pool situated to the north. Additionally, the facility includes a gym located in the northeast and a changing room in the northwest. The reception area, strategically positioned at the centre, provides access to the pool, gym, and changing facilities, yet lacks variety and additional amenities.
The proposed redevelopment plan introduces significant enhancements. Notably, the outdoor courts are to be removed, making way for a leisure pool and a sports hall in the northwestern and northeastern sections, respectively. The gym retains its current location, though the changing rooms will be relocated to the east and west sides, adjacent to the new sports hall. Furthermore, the plan includes the construction of a café and a sports shop flanking the reception area, thereby enriching the overall user experience and providing students with a broader range of recreational and social facilities.
