The diagrams illustrate the design of the South Wing of Walton Museum in 2008 and the reconstruction of this place in 2012.
In general, the structure in 2008 was a simple two-story museum, while some new functional rooms for visitors were introduced after the redevelopment plan in 2012.
From the starting point of visitors to this museum, the original gate entrance was developed to the entrance hall, with the terrace built on top of the hall. Besides the entrance, there was an integration of the cloaks room to the reception region, which was relocated from the right of the first floor after four years. As a result, this made way for the construction of a children play area. Additionally, a restaurant is introduced in the plan of redevelopment, situated on the third floor of the museum.
Turning to the remaining components of the museum, on the right hand side, a self-service room was built on top of the reading room, which remained stable after the plan. Moreover, the museum’s plan had provided an additional exhibition room on the highest floor, covered by a roof. Remarkably, a modern modification – stairs in the previous design – was replaced by a lift.
