These two sketches indicate a bookstore’s interior design in 2000 and the present. From an overall perspective it is apparent that the central area has been transformed from book shelving into seating areas, also a cafe has been added.
In 2000, the bookstore was mainly consisted of book shelves. Some sections such as cookery, travel and hobbies are located in the central area. Fiction and non-fiction sections surrounded the bookstore, occupying more space than the other sections. Additionally, the service desk was located next to the entrance and the new books table were positioned in front of it.
At present, the central area has been converted to a seating area, and a cafe counter has been added on the right side. However, especially the fiction and non-fiction sections has been narrowed in order to establish the store’s new layout and create a more social environment. Unlike the other sections, the travel section has been expanded.
