The diagram illustrates the propotion of female individuals who aged between 15 to 64 years old in employment from 2003 to 2009 in 5 different countries, including Iceland, Canada, Germany, Chile and Turkey.
Overall, the porpotion of every countries did not change much through the period; however, while Iceland’s figure decreased over the years, the others experienced an opposite trend.
In the first 4 years, Iceland had the highest number of 15-64 years old woman who were working, this percentage stabilized at right above 80% before slightly dropped of about 3% in 2009. In constrast, Turkey, which were the country with the lowest propotion over the period, decreased from about 25% to around 20% from 2003 to 2005. This figure then moderately rose into its starting point in 2009.
The period between 2003 and 2005 did not experience many changes, with most countries maintaining relatively stable employment rates. However, after 2005, Germany and Chile saw a gradual increase in the proportion of employed women, while Canada also experienced a slight upward trend. By 2009, all three countries had higher employment rates than in 2003, with Germany and Canada remaining close to each other, while Chile, despite its lower percentage, showed steady growth.
