The two pie charts illustrate the reasons why people traveled abroad in the years 2010 to 2020.
Overall, it is clear that holidays were the main reason for international travel in both years. However, while some reasons became more common, others declined significantly over the decade.
In 2010, the most poupler reason for traveling abroad was for holidays, accounting for about half of all trips. This was followed by business travel, which made up approximately 30% of the total. Visiting family and friends was less popular, at around 15%, while the remaining 5% of people traveled for other reasons.
By 2020, holidays remained the top reason for travel but slightly decreased to about 45%. In contrast, traveling to visit family and friends rose noticeably, making up 25%, while business travel dropped to just 20%. Other purposes increased slightly to 10%, showing a broader range of travel motivations.
