Overall, while electronics and appliances represented the biggest share by itself in 2005, food and beverage surpassed it slightly in 2010. Video games gained more sales online by 2010, meanwhile home furnishings experienced a slight drop over the period.
Video games accounted for the smallest portion of the chart, at 18%, in 2005; as they became more popular for online sales, they reached 23% by 2010, surpassing food and beverage. While food and beverage was the sector with the second-least amount of online sales at 22% in 2005, it constituted more than one-third of the total, at 32%, after the five-year period.
Home furnishings represented a quarter of the chart, having the second-most online sales after electronics and appliances, at 35% in 2005. While home furnishings’ proportion dropped to 15% after the five-year period, electronics and appliances also experienced a slightly smaller decline to 30% by 2010.
