The table and bar chart compares journey times before and after enhancements were made to the transportation system in a city center, as well as illustrates the average costs per kilometer of four different forms of transport – cars, taxis, trams and buses – service in the city.
Overall, while journey durations by bus and tram decreased, taxis and cars became slower. Furthermore, the average cost of taxi services dominated the chart. Conversely, the most economical mode of travel was by bus.
Initially, the alterations average journey times for trams and buses were 22 and 28 minutes respectively. After improvements, the travel time for trams decreased to 16 minutes, while the figure for buses declined for only 5 minutes.
By contrast, the travel time for private cars was 10 minutes, and it increased by 5 minutes. As for taxis it rose from 9 minutes to 12 minutes, staying the fastest way of travelling.
In terms of costs, taxis topped the chart with 1.80 euro per kilometer, followed by private cars with 1 euro per kilometer. In contrast, the cost of travelling by buses and trams were much cheaper, 0.4 and 0.6 euro per kilometer.
