Overall, it can be easily observed that there is a soar in the number of Internet accesses in the US. Among 5 seaking tool, Google platform saw a significant growth and always dominated compared to the rest, which tended to decline slowly and were constantly at a lower volume.
Looking at the table, the number of searches initially was 4.5 million and then skyrocketed 4 times to 16 billion between 2004 and 2010. Diving into details, Google engines leaded the figure with the start at 35%. Following Google was Yahoo with the number of accesses at about 30%. Wheares, Microsoft’s seaches made up 15%, surpassed AOL(8%) and Ask Jeeves(5%) in the beginning.
The number of site visits on the Google tool experienced an upward trend. At the beginning with 35%, the figure almost doubled with the final at the end was around 70%. In contrast, the rest of search engines tended to gradually decline in the number of online visits. Microsoft’s accesses firstly was 15% and then fell gradually to 8% in April 2009, matching with the begining AOL’s figure, but at the end of the period, Microsoft slightly recovered to 12%. During the time, Ask Jeeves and AOL kept at the same low level, fluctuated between 5% to 7%, which was too different compared to Google’s.
