The table and line graph illustrate variations in the percentage of internet searches in the US from 2004 to 2010. Overall, it is evident there was a whopping surge in the total number of searches and Google was the most popular search engine over the period.
The number of US searches totally was 4.5 billion in November 2004, which rocketed fourfold by September 2010, reaching 16 billion searches.
Regarding the line graph, Google led the pack in terms of search engine (35%). Its use increased gradually, hitting its highest point in April 2009 and maintained this position by the end of the period. Following close behind was Yahoo, which started the period over than 30%. However, it showed a downward trend, making up for 20% in the end. Other portals were not common among people, with Microsoft fluctuating around 15% throughout the period. Meanwhile, AOL and Ask Jeeves did not show significant changes, the former declined slightly, the latter remained stable over the years (both less than 10%).
