Overall, there has been significantly changed about the student portions in Australian universities, and the number of students increased during the period of time.
As can be seen in the table, the number of students significantly increased over 9 years, from 38849 students in 2001 to over 54000 in 2010. While the number of local students only has slight increase, from 33657 to approximately 40000 students, the number of international students has a dramatical increase, by over 10 per cent during the period.
In the two-pie charts, the percentages of students in Australian universities have been significantly changed. While the proportion of local students dropped by 87% in 2001 to 73% in 2010, the proportion of international students increased, from 13% to 27% during the period. In addition, the percentages of local decreased from 43% to 35% in female part, and from 44% to 38% in the other gender. The number of male international students only took 9% in 2001 and rose up to 12% in 2010, the percentages of femal international students jumped from 4% to 15% in the subsequent 9 years.
