The given graph illustrates the time people spend on waiting for transport in various cities different sizes in the period between 1985 and 2015, along with projected values for 2025.
Overall, there was a general upward trend in the hours of delay experienced by commuters in cities of all sizes from 1985 to 2015, followed by a slight decrease. However, a predicted further decline is anticipated for 2025.
Basing on given statistics, it should be noted that in 1985 the highest average delay, at 19 hours, was observed in metropolises. This figure increased significantly to 60 hours in 2005 before decreasing to 50 hours in 2015. Meanwhile, cities with the population less than 3 million experienced an approximately 10 percentage points increase in the time spent on waiting from 1985 to 1995 and from 1995 to 2005 respectively. It was then followed by a decline of up to 10 percentage points by 2015.
Furthermore, considering the predicted figures in the year 2025, it is projected that the time of latency for commuters will continue to decrease, remaining at levels lower than of those of the previous time periods given.
