Overall, it is clear that a retired single person spent more on housing whereas retired couples did so for leisure. The total expenditure of pensioned couples is higher than single ones.
Regarding the amount of expenses, housing costs are slightly higher for a retired couple at $194 compared to $184 for a retired single person. Leisure activities also saw a significant difference, with a retired couple spending $202, which is $62 more than the $140 spent by a retired single person. For health services, pensioned couples spent $177, but this for single person for this category was $122. However, there wasn’t a big difference for transport, $107 for single person and $108 for couples.
As for the remaining categories, retired couples spent more money than retired single person. Focusing on the clothing expenditure, retired couples’ spending was 2 times higher with recording $80 than single person ($44). Clearly seen that food expenses was doubled for retired couple, hitting $100 than another single consumer ($50). Amount of money spent on “others” was $70 for couple and $37 for single individual. There was an exact difference for total amount between single person and couple, former spent $684 and the latter spent $931.
