The table illustrates the percentages of woman-managed positions in four different fields in 2006.
Overall, the percentage of women in top-level roles varied significantly across the four industries, with hospitality having the highest share of women workers and manufacturing the lowest.
Looking at the table more closely, one can see that women accounted for a substantial share of managing positions in hospitality, representing around 20% of total executives and CEOs and making up more than one-third of all managers. This was followed by the IT and finance sectors, in which women constituted approximately 16% – roughly one-fourth of all such roles. However, contrary to the IT industry, executive and CEO positions in the finance field only recruited 5% and 2% of women for senior roles respectively. Manufacturing had the smallest share of women-held management roles, with only 9% of managers being women and 2% being executives and CEOs.
