Overall, the highest proportion of spending in all five countries was on food, drinks, and tobacco, while the lowest was on leisure and education. Turkey spent the most on both food-related items and education, whereas Sweden had the lowest spending in all three categories.
Firstly, Turkey and Ireland had the highest levels of spending on food, drinks, and tobacco, at 32.14% and 28.91% respectively. Spain and Italy followed with around 18.80% and 16.36%, while Sweden had the lowest at 15.77%.
In terms of clothing and footwear, Italy was the top spender at 9.00%, followed by Turkey (6.63%) and Ireland (6.43%). Sweden spent the least in this category, with only 5.40%.
Finally, when it comes to leisure and education, Turkey again ranked the highest with 4.35%, while Sweden and Italy spent around 3.2%. In contrast, Ireland and Spain spent the least in this area, with 2.21% and 1.98% respectively.
