The line graph shows the contribution of four different sectors in the UK in terms of acid rain emission during the period from 1990 to 2007.
It is clear that out of the four sectors, Electricity, Gas and Water Supply had by far the most impact on acid rain emission at the beginning of the period shown, whereas the figure for domestic sector was the least. Overall, the total amount of acid rain emitted decreased significantly.
In 1991, Electricity, Gas and Water Supply sector produced just under 3.5 mt acid rain, this trend dropped sharply , at 1 mt until 1999, and after a negligible growth it continued to fall steadily and reached a low of 0.5 mt in 2007. Other industries were the second most harmful influencer to environment with around 2 mt hazardous emission in 1991 and this figure also fell slightly till 2007.
The only sector unlike others was transport and communication, its emssion was the same rate, with some fluctuations during the age, at 0.7 ml in 1991 and 2007. Domestic sector began the decade with the lowest rate, with just over a half mt, and even in 2007, this sector’s proportion was the least, at about 0.2 mt.
