Overall, it is clear from the graph that amount of acid rain emissions fell considerably over the period shown. The most dramatic decrease was seen in the electricity, gas, and water supply sector.
In 1990, the amount of acid rain emissions in the electricity, gas, and water supply was around 3.4 million tonnes,whereas, emission from other industries was close to 2 million tonnes. Emissions from transport and communication as well as domestic sector were approximately 0.5 million tonnes.
In 2007, a dramatic decrease was seen in the electricity, gas, and water supply, where emission fell from 3.4 million tonnes to just 0.5 million tonnes. Similarly, emissions came from other industries were around 1.4 million tonnes. Emissions from domestic and transport and communication sectors were 0.2 0.6 million tonnes, respectively.
