The table compares the yearly salaries of secondary/high school teachers in five countries in 2009, showing starting salaries, salaries after 15 years, maximum salaries, and years needed to reach top salaries.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that Luxembourg recorded the highest figure in all stages, whereas the opposite was true for Australia maximum salary. Additionally, Denmark and Australia showed the fastest progression to top salaries.
In the first year, the salary of teachers in Luxembourg dominated the chart at $80,000, which was roughly three times higher than Japan figure ($28,000). Denmark ranked second at $47,000, compared with Korea $30,500, while Australia came last at $34,600.
In a special year, Luxembourg reached a peak of 139,000 USD, compared to small changes in the statistics of the other four.
In the final comparison, despite some variations, Denmark and Australia required only 8-9 years to reach top salaries. However, Korea still took the longest time (37 years), while Japan and Luxembourg needed over 30 years.
