Overall, teachers in Luxembourg were the most paid. In addition, the amount of time it took for a teacher in Denmark to earn the maximum salary was much faster than most other countries.
When it comes to starting salary, secondary and high school teachers in Luxembourg earned most, at $80,000 a year, followed by teachers in Denmark, at $47,000. Bottom of the list were teachers in Japan, Korea, and Australia, at about $34,000.
Regarding salary after 15 years, teachers in Luxembourg were the top earners, at $112,000 a year. Teachers in Denmark and Korea were in the next place, at $54,000 and $52,000, respectively. Meanwhile, Australian teachers with at least 15 years’ experience received the lowest pay, at $48,000 a year.
In terms of years to reach the maximum salary and maximum salary, teachers in Australia and Denmark took the least amount of time, at 9 and 8 years, getting $48,000 and $54,000, respectively. By contrast, Japanese teachers spend the most time, at 37 years, receiving $62,400. Next came teachers in Luxembourg and Korea, at 30 and 34 years, earning $139,000 and $84,500, respectively.
