Overall, the amount of CO2 emission is highest from Air and lowest from Coaches. The Union’s funds are utilised most for the Roads and least for Inland waterway transport, Intermodal transport and Airports.
In terms of release of CO2, Air is topping among all the sources with more than 350 Grams of CO2 per passenger-Km. Air is followed by the Passenger Cars having sligthly above 100 grams, Buses having more than 50 grams. The Rail and Maritime are on a tie having exactly 50 grams. Coaches are at the last having less than 50 grams of carbondioxide release.
In terms of the Transport expenditure, Roads are having highest share of 52 percent spent by the nations of European Union. Next to the Roads are the Railways having a share of 31 percent followed by, Public Transport at 10 percent. The Ports and unknown expenditure have an equal share of 2 percent each and the case is also same for Intermodal transport, Inland waterway transport and airports having an equal share of 1 percent each.
