In 2001, government jobs were by far the most favored industry option to choose for the both genders, with 45% percent of male lawyers’ and of female lawyers’ job choice. The gender gap was either relatively small in the case for choosing to be a private lawyer or the other industries, where female lawyers prefered only 2% more than their male counterparts. Lastly, the businnes route were least favored option listed with only 14% of men and women choosing this route.
In 2016, the careers in government stayed the most sought-after profession, while the percentage of male lawyers decreased to , showing a certain decline compared to 2001. By contrast, the proportion of female lawyers choosing to work in government augmented to . Noticibly, in comparison to 2001, female lawyers showed a shift towards to being a private lawyer or a career in business with compared to choosing other jobs. However, this preference stayed the same for male lawyers both in 2001 and in 2016.
