Overall, it is noticeable that married couples constituted the highest percentage over the period. Interestingly, the percentage of other categories underwent a slight upward trend from 1970 to 2003 with the exception of father-kid families
In terms of family household, the proportion of married couples was the highest, at roughly 60% in 1970. By contrast, there were 9% of father-kid families at that time. The figure of father-kid household in 2003 increased slightly, at 10%, compared with the percentage of married couple households, which experienced a significant decrease in 2003, at about 40%. In addition, in 1970 mother -kid families and other member sharing accounted for 10% and 13% respectively. While the figures climbed minimally in 2003, at 11% and 14% correspondingly.
Concerning non-family household, the percentage of single-person households stood at approximately 5% in 1970. However, the figure rose dramatically to 13% in 2003. Room sharing made up 3% in 1970. By contrast, in 2003, that constituted 11%.
