The table illustrates how household composition changed in a North America over thirty-three years, in 1970 compared to 2003.
Overall, it is clear that married couple accounted for the highest share, while another three others were lower, but all share rose in the Family Household. Non-Family Household rose in both; single and room sharing. The highest contribution was in the single throughout the period.
In 1970, the most significant figure for family household, 61% was reported in the married couple. However, it declined 2/3 as high as its original level in the last year. In the first year, the disparity between the percentage of father + kid and mother + kid was almost the same with 9%, after which both went up 1% in 2003.
In addition, the share of other member sharing was responsible for 13% and remained relatively unchanged during the given period.
In the Non-Family Household, there was a disparity between the proportion of single and room sharing in the initial year, as they rose over threefold from about 3% to 13% in 2000.
