Overall, Germany undeniably secured the position for the highest number of car accidents amongst the 5 countries. Morever, all the countries displayed a reduction in the number of fatalities in the year 2019 when compared to the year 2009.
To begin with, Germany had a staggering 310,806 traffic accidents reported in 2009, with this number reduced by a mere 10,000 in 2019. Meanwhile, countries like France, Poland and Austria had collectively diminished the number of accidents on the road in 2019 when compared to 2009. However, Portugal remains to be the only country that contradicts this trend, with the number of accidents in 2019 being roughly 3,000 higher than in 2009.
Furthermore, the number of highway fatalities for all the countries in 2019 had reduced in contrast to the respective number of deaths in 2009. Notably, Poland recorded a number of 4,572 roadside deaths in 2009, which tremendously decreased to 2,909 in 2019.
