Overall, the level of Internet access has increased significantly over the decade in all surveyed countries, with Canada leading the way in both years.
In 2000, the proportion of households with Internet access was highest in Australia at 50%, followed by Canada at 48%. In the USA, this figure was 44%, while in Germany and the UK it was 39% and 35%, respectively. By 2010, there was a significant increase in Internet access in all countries. The highest rate was in Canada – 85%, while in the USA, Great Britain, Germany and Australia it was 78%, 82%, 79% and 88%, respectively.
According to the data obtained, in the United States, this figure increased by 34 percentage points, from 44% in 2000 to 78% in 2010. In Canada, the increase was 37 percentage points. The UK and Germany also saw significant increases of 47 and 40 percentage points, respectively. In Australia, despite the highest baseline rate, the increase was 38 percentage points, underscoring the general trend towards increasing Internet accessibility in these countries.
