The table displays the percentage in different world regions of the population living in urbans areas from 2018 to 2022. Looking from the overall prespective, overall all regions experienced a gradual increase in urban population over the five-year period. It is apparent that North America tend to be the highest percentage of the population each year and South Asia became to be the lowest percentage of the population.
North America consistently recorded the highest percentage of dwellers, starting at 82.2% in 2018 and reaching 82.9% in 2022. This was followed by Latin America and Caribbean, which rose from 80.6% in 2018 to 81.6% in 2022. European Uninon has also a significant increased from 74.5% to 75.5%.
Among all of the regions, the Middle East and North Africa also saw a noticible increase, from 64.6% to 65.7% in 2022. East Asia and pacific also demonstrated significant increase, from 59.0% up to 62.2% in 2022. South Africa also has grew steadily, from 66.4% to 68.3%.
In contrast, South Asia had the lowest percentage of population, but also showed consistent progress over the past five-year, increase from 34.0% to 35.8% in 2022.
